The Universal Ink Monitor was created by the author for a HP720c when it was decided to refill. After discusions on forums the 5 colour version was created.

The concept changed from initially using manufactures page yield figures to the more accurate system used by these monitors. The main factors taken into account is the size of the file printed and a calculated usage in megabytes per milliter. There is initial setup values included as default but on the forum many members have posted more accurate figures.

A lot depends on the type of printing that is done ie. if there is a large percentage of Cyan used then the adjustments have to reflect that.

The calculations are based on large figures absorbimg a host of variables. So far the results are good as can be checked out by comments on the various forums. It does not interfere with the system or printer in any way. There is considerable demand for them especially for the free version.

But it appears that those that lose their monitor if they refill are turning to Inkmon5. for $
us5.00 you cannot get better value.

There is apparently a ink monitor put out by Epson that is causing problems. This has nothing to do with that, just an unfortunate simularity in names.
